Description

PK Yonge Developmental Research School is looking for an experienced Paraprofessional to provide support to our physical education program. The successful candidate will monitor, assist, and work with students in combination with the teacher. This is a 10-month, .50 position that begins on August 3, 2026.

Job Description:
  • Assist the Physical Education teacher in preparing instructional materials, equipment, and learning spaces to support daily lessons and activities.
  • Provide instructional support during physical education classes as directed by the teacher, ensuring students remain actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Review short- and long-term lesson plans to anticipate equipment, supply, and material needs for upcoming units and activities.
  • Lead small-group and station-based activities under the teacher's direction while promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs by providing individualized assistance and implementing instructional strategies as assigned.
  • Assist with specialized instruction and skill development for targeted students to help them achieve educational and physical fitness goals.
  • Collaborate with the teacher to adapt activities and curriculum to meet the individual needs and abilities of all students.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe gymnasium, equipment storage areas, and instructional environment.
  • Manage technology and computer-assisted instructional activities used during physical education lessons.
  • Supervise students during classes, transitions, recess, field days, and other assigned activities to ensure student safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Assist in maintaining the security, organization, and proper care of instructional materials, equipment, and student records.
  • Reinforce classroom and gymnasium expectations, support positive student behavior, and assist the teacher in maintaining accurate records.
  • Support student assessment by assisting with skill evaluations, monitoring student progress, recording performance data, grading assignments when appropriate, and maintaining required documentation.
Expected Salary:

$22/hour

Required Qualifications:

AA Degree required
DCF Level 2 Background Check required

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree & teaching experience
