Job Summary

Why Join Us

Coastal Eye Care is a 29-year-old, two-physician ophthalmology practice with deep roots in Downeast Maine - and they're ready to welcome a third. You'll step into an established, high-volume clinic with a loyal referral network of local ODs and PCPs, an on-site ASC, and immediate surgical volume from day one. The technology is cutting-edge, the team is experienced, and the call schedule is nonexistent - no hospital call, no ER coverage. This is a rare chance to build a meaningful practice without building from scratch.

Position Highlights

  • Full-time ophthalmology opportunity within a busy, community-anchored two-MD group practice
  • 10+ cataract cases per week available in year one, with strong growth trajectory
  • Surgical scope includes cataract surgery, YAG, LPI, and SLT procedures
  • Fellowship-trained candidates in Glaucoma or Cornea will find unmet subspecialty demand and genuine opportunity to expand those services
  • Advanced technology: iTrace, Zeiss OCT, Argos biometer, LAL IOL Light Delivery Device, ORA Wavetec, and full premium IOL capability
  • 10 exam rooms with experienced technical staff and dedicated scribe support
  • ASC located on-site in the same building
  • No hospital call and no emergency room call
  • Friday afternoons off built into the standard schedule

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary with productivity incentives
  • CME allowance with paid time off for continuing education
  • Paid vacation and professional dues coverage
  • Malpractice insurance provided
  • Health, dental, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Deferred compensation program
  • Relocation assistance

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Active Maine medical license or willingness to obtain upon offer
  • All experience levels welcome, including fellowship-trained subspecialists

Why Ellsworth

Ellsworth sits at the gateway to Acadia National Park, giving you world-class hiking, biking, and coastal scenery within a short drive of your front door. The town itself offers a walkable historic downtown with local restaurants, galleries, and a genuine sense of community that's increasingly rare. Six lakes and the Union River make it a year-round destination for kayaking, fishing, and winter recreation, while the Downeast Sunrise Trail and Woodlawn Museum add cultural and outdoor depth to everyday life. If you're looking for a place where quality of life isn't a talking point but a daily reality, Ellsworth delivers.
