Ophthalmic Technician
Location: New York, NY
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | Monday–Friday
Hours: 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM (40 Hours/Week)
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician for a 13-week contract assignment in a fast-paced outpatient clinical setting. The ideal candidate will support ophthalmologists by performing preliminary eye examinations, diagnostic testing, patient preparation, and clinical assistance while delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preliminary ophthalmic screening examinations for physician evaluation
- Conduct visual field testing, including central and peripheral vision assessments
- Perform ocular motility, color vision, and pupil function testing
- Measure intraocular pressure using tonometry and related methods
- Obtain and document patient medical and ocular history accurately
- Assist with ophthalmic photography, diagnostic procedures, and outpatient testing
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and minor surgical interventions
- Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Educate patients on procedures and address questions or concerns professionally
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Prepare and sterilize instruments for minor procedures and laser treatments
- Assist physicians during office-based examinations and procedures
- Ensure exam rooms and procedure areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician credential required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic testing independently
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
