Our thriving, multi-location private ophthalmology practice is seeking motivated, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technicians to join our clinical team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our patient experience, conducting preliminary eye exams, performing specialized diagnostic testing, and assisting our physicians with clinical procedures.

With multiple modern facilities across the region, we offer a collaborative private practice environment, cross-training opportunities, and a clear career path from entry-level technician to advanced specialist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Workups: Conduct comprehensive preliminary screenings including patient medical history, visual acuity testing, lensometry, tonometry, pupil assessment, and automated refractions.
  • Diagnostic Imaging: Perform essential ophthalmic diagnostic tests such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF), fundus photography, and corneal topography.
  • Clinical Assisting: Prepare exam and treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist ophthalmologists with minor in-office procedures, laser treatments, and injections.
  • Patient Flow Management: Coordinate efficiently with physicians and front-desk staff to maintain a smooth, timely patient flow across multiple exam lanes.
  • EHR Documentation: Accurately enter patient information, exam findings, and diagnostic test results into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.

Requirements

  • Experience: 1–2+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Optometric Technician preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong medical assisting background.
  • Certification: Active COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) or COT (Certified Ophthalmic Technician) designation is highly valued but not strictly required at hire.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with ophthalmic equipment (Zeiss, Heidelberg, etc.) and medical EHR software (e.g., Modernizing Medicine/EMA, NextGen).
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work at our nearby regional locations as needed to support team coverage.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, a warm patient-first demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience level.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Paid Certification Path: We pay for your study materials, exam fees, and continuing education (CE) credits to help you achieve your COA/COT certifications.
  • Annual scrub/uniform allowance.
