Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Ophthalmic Scribe & Claims Specialist to support both clinical documentation and medical billing operations. This dual-role position combines AI-assisted scribing with claims preparation, ensuring accurate patient records and timely reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Scribing
- Accurately document patient encounters using AI-assisted scribing tools
- Record medical history, exam findings, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans
- Maintain organized, complete, and compliant patient records
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Medical Billing & Claims Support
- Translate clinical documentation into ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes
- Build and review claims in EHR/practice management system (DrChrono preferred)
- Audit documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to submission
- Collaborate with billing team to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with claim submission, corrections, and follow-ups
In-Clinic Support (Hybrid Component)
- Cross-train as a Patient Guide
- Perform ophthalmic patient workups and operate testing equipment
- Support clinic staff during in-office days
Collaboration
- Work closely with physicians, technicians, and billing teams
- Provide feedback to providers to ensure proper documentation for coding accuracy
- Help maintain efficient workflow between clinical and administrative teams
Qualifications
- Experience as a medical scribe, ophthalmic scribe, or billing specialist preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, EHR systems, and medical coding
- Familiarity with DrChrono is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Work Environment
- Primarily remote with 2–4 required in-office days per month
- Occasional in-office attendance for training and team meetings
