Position Summary:

The Operator III/ Solvent Extraction Operator controls the chemical extraction process that separates crude oil from peanut flakes using solvent (typically hexane). You will safely operate extraction machinery, maximize oil recovery, manage hazardous materials, and ensure the resulting meal meets quality standards.

Job Description:

As an OPERATOR III, the essential duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Operate Extraction Equipment - Control extractors, desolventizer-toasters (DT), distillation columns, and solvent recovery systems
  • Monitor Chemical Levels - Maintain precise control of solvent-to-meal ratios, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates
  • Control Grain Feed - Regulate the flow of prepared peanut flakes entering the extraction system
  • Test Product Quality - Sample meal and oil to test for residual solvent, moisture content, and oil safety parameters
  • Manage Hazardous Materials - Handle volatile organic compounds (hexane) strictly according to safety environmental permits
  • Minimize Production Loss - Monitor and adjust equipment to achieve minimum residual oil left in the peanut mill
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance - Inspect pumps, seals, and piping for leaks and/or wear and clear equipment blockages

Other Responsibilities:

  • Sustaining and maintaining the duties and tasks associated with the Operator III Position
  • Following all safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to the position
  • Adherence to and enforcing current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Sustain and evaluate bulk inventory and conveying system
  • Able to step up to Lead person role
  • An employee in this position will be required to wear fall protection for certain job tasks, climb stairs, and lift heavy equipment (50 lbs.)

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay for this position is expected to be:

$26.00 Hourly with a shift differential pay when on nights
