The Role:
Grinder employees function as a member of an area team that is directly responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. The primary responsibility of a Grinder is to grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deburr, buff or polish materials to specifications
- Examine materials to ensure conformance to establish standards.
- Verify quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.
- Select files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of workpieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
- Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.
- Study blueprints or layouts to determine how to lay out workpieces or saw out templates.
- Record product and processing data on specified forms.
- Complete the required paperwork.
- Saw/Heat treat and sandblast parts.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts
- Standing on a concrete floor
- Wearing proper personal protective equipment (face shield, ear plugs, safety shoes, and long sleeve or sleeved apron)
- Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally without assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
- Working knowledge of computers
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently
- Self-motivated
- Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language
