Job Summary Saw Operators are responsible for the setup of equipment, quality of product, efficiency, and preventative maintenance of the Optimizing saws. Saw Operators act as the first-level of contact for production concerns related to both the saws and the scanners.
Duties & Responsibilities • Monitor the operation of the saws to ensure equipment is running efficiently. • Setup the chop-scan for the next production run. • Turn sizes on and off at the scanner in a timely manner. Prioritize product as needed. • Record downtime and carry out other process monitoring for the Opti saws chop-scan and rip-scan. • Clear errors at the scanner and the saws. • Setup and run tests at the chop-scan and rip-scan. • Train others to perform the job in a safe and efficient manner. • Training others on the team. • Keep equipment clean.
Requirements • High school diploma or GED Preferred. • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Excel. • Ability to learn and understand grades and quality. • Ability to work well with others. • Ability to document information accurately and clearly in writing. • Must be self motivated.
Physical Demands The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.
