Operations Technician

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an Operations Technician to support the startup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of ultra-high purity nitrogen plants. This role plays an important part in ensuring safe, reliable plant performance, maintaining customer supply, responding to operational needs, and supporting day-to-day production and maintenance activities in a highly regulated industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and operate ultra-high purity nitrogen plants, including air separation units.
  • Adjust plant operations using process control systems to meet production demands.
  • Complete operational and maintenance tasks as part of an onsite team.
  • Respond to plant alarms during nights and weekends while on call.
  • Perform daily rounds, record readings, and calibrate onsite gas analyzers.
  • Manage cryogenic tank inventories and support customer supply requirements.
  • Complete preventative maintenance work orders according to the published schedule.
  • Maintain compressors, piping systems, cooling water systems, and facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot cryogenic gas systems and interpret P&IDs.
  • Follow all HSE standards and maintain strong safety practices at all times.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of related operations experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google software, and operator interface consoles/HMIs.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders and stairs as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cryogenic gas systems, air separation units, or industrial plant operations.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance in a manufacturing, utilities, or process plant environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with compressors, piping systems, cooling water systems, or related plant equipment.
