Operations Technician II
Great Lakes Energy is looking for an Operations Technician II to work out of our Reed City district inspecting company-owned facilities and infrastructure for signs of trouble, failure, or required maintenance. Locate and mark underground facilities in response to MISS DIG system notifications and perform various metering functions.

A Day in The Life of an Operations Technician II at GLE
No two days are exactly the same. You spend most of your time inspecting our lines, equipment and substations for signs of trouble, failure or required maintenance. You get out in front of the problem by performing the necessary testing, then repair or replace whatever is needed. Meter bases, service entrances, and energized meters are all on your radar to make sure there is no damage or tampering.
You are also on the front lines helping with MISS DIG and facilities locating requests in the field. You communicate with members and contractors. You even get to perform bird-dog activities during storms and assist engineering and GIS staff with field checks when they request your help.
Who You Are
You work well with others and have no problem representing our company to contractors and members. You enjoy being outdoors and appreciate being an engaged team member. A lot of your day is on your own, so you direct yourself well and can manage and prioritize a variety of tasks and requests. You answer emergency calls because you have a deep sense of responsibility to your coworkers and the company you work for.
You are proficient in locating facilities and marking under the MISS DIG system. You can interpret and navigate maps to locate, analyze, and plan routes. You have five years of related experience, or you've completed a DOL-certified lineworker apprenticeship training program. We would also love to hear from you if you have equivalent experience or education.
What's in It for You?
You are valuable to us, and our benefits are here to show it. That's why we put employees first-your health, your family, and your development. We have a number of benefits, both traditional and progressive, to support you and your family through life's various stages. Here's just a taste of what we have to offer:
