Job Description:

Position Summary:

 

This position is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, leadership of direct reports, and management of the manufacturing plant. This position reports to the Plant Manager and regularly reports on plant performance.

 

Direct reports for this position include salaried staff including but not limited to Production Supervisors and other production employees. Indirect reports include all hourly employees at the plant.

 

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Drive efficiencies and identify opportunities to achieve production targets while maintaining cost controls and compliance

2. Design and implement plans for the effective use of labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets

3. Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and management methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimization and efficiencies. Document and train to new process.

4. Partner with Human Resources to implement talent strategies to include goals and objectives, performance and development, succession planning, interviewing and selection, and administering corrective actions for direct and indirect reports

5. Collaborate with production supervisors to implement strategies to foster positive employee engagement ensuring a motivated and satisfied workforce

6. Directly responsible for leading a team of first-line production supervisors and indirect reports.

7. Collaborate with the quality department to ensure product quality and specifications are consistent

8. Routinely oversee inspection of QA Hold area to determine root cause of non-conforming products then implement process controls to prevent recurrence

9. Oversee the procurement of raw materials and related processes required for manufacturing including the efficient offloading of raw materials, inventory counts, BOM adherence, and optimal usage of resin to positively impact cost

10. Partner with the Maintenance Manager to coordinate maintenance of production equipment and ensure efficient operation

11. Partner with all support functions (internal and external to plant) in the execution of meeting the production schedule to ensure all product is shipped to target

12. Maintain effective communications with scheduling, safety, sales, customer service and external customers (as needed)

13. Actively support and drive a safe and healthy work environment by establishing safety standards and procedures holding all accountable to work safe

14. Using data, compile production reports showing key metrics of plant performance such as (not all inclusive) scrap, lbs./labor hour, time to execute changeovers and screen changes, downtime minutes and reasons for each line and total plant for various views (day, week, month, by product, by shift, etc.), actual lbs. per hour per line vs engineering capability (show where we have upside in throughput), quality complaints (various views), etc. to drive improvement opportunities

15. Actively take part in Plant wide communication meetings and other employee related events as scheduled

16. Other essential duties as assigned

 

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

1. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. A minimum of 5 years of production/operations management experience in manufacturing or related production processes. Prefer experience in a 24/7/365-day manufacturing operation.

3. Well-rounded operations management experience including a deep understanding and experience with operations tactics, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement, strategies and best practices and process discipline.

4. Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

5. Excellent judgment and decision-making ability.

6. Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

7. Ability to effectively set and communicate expectations & directives to manufacturing staff.

8. Results driven, analytical, self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to logically identify alternative solutions or approaches to complex problems.

9. Must have demonstrated accountability at the management level and have a strong track record of successful execution to achieve results.

10. Demonstrated success as an innovative manufacturing leader.

11. Demonstrated ability to manage operations efficiently and effectively with excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

12. Proficient in Microsoft suite applications (Teams, Word, Excel, etc.) as well as some type of ERP system.
