The Opportunity

We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead our terminal operations to success. This role involves overseeing daily operations to ensure they are profitable, efficient, and safety-compliant. Reporting to the Service Center Manager, the Operations Manager will focus on team leadership and engagement, inspiring innovation and excellence, and driving productivity through data-driven decisions. This position requires a strategic thinker who can optimize both terminal and dispatch coordination while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Terminal Management: Oversee daily terminal operations, including staff scheduling and shift organization, to maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Safety & Compliance: Support safety programs and ensure compliance with company and federal/state safety standards to provide a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as the primary point of communication for the team, ensuring consistency and compliance while taking corrective actions as necessary. Mentor, train, and develop employees for career growth and performance improvement.•
  • Hiring & Training: Recruit and train new operations employees, conducting timely and constructive performance evaluations to encourage growth and recognize achievement.
  • Dispatch Coordination: Ensure efficient terminal operations by collaborating with dispatch to optimize trailer loading and maximize load efficiency.
  • Operations Efficiency: Supervise trailer loading processes to maximize productivity, collaborating closely with Dispatch as needed to ensure smooth logistics and customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Complete all required management reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintenance: Oversee maintenance activities and ensure all equipment is in safe, working order.
  • Meetings & Communication: Actively participate in regular and ad hoc meetings, providing insights and updates as needed.•
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate workplace performance and lead training initiatives to enhance employee capabilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Keep current on federal and state safety regulations, implementing safety procedures in line with OSHA and DOT guidelines.
  • Goal Achievement: Set and implement action plans to achieve productivity, load averages, and service targets for the service center.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.•
  • Experience: Five (5) years of relevant industry experience, with three (3) years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated accountability. Thorough knowledge of ltl operations, policies, and applicable safety regulations. Customer-oriented mindset.
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 annually, based on experience and location.

Classification: Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Physical Requirements:•
  • Frequent walking throughout the facility and between departments as part of daily operational tasks.
