The Operations Manager works closely with the Branch Manager to ensure safe, effective, and efficient branch operations on a day-to-day basis. This role serves as a key partner to the Branch Manager, utilizing leadership, customer service, and decision-making skills to drive operational success.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain equipment for retail sales inventory
  • Oversee daily operations of the rental branch
  • Verify account status and communicate with the Credit Department as needed
  • Complete requisitions to maintain adequate rental inventory levels
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform weekly cycle counts of the rental fleet
  • Review outgoing contracts for accuracy including rates, delivery fees, and equipment numbers
  • Oversee branch logistics and operational flow
  • Maintain facility appearance and overall condition
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of staff
  • Manage timecards, PTO approvals, and employee recognition
  • Address employee performance through performance management practices
  • Develop and coach team members
  • Maintain understanding of P&L and key financial controls
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports
  • Maintain knowledge of:
    • All aspects of business operations and markets
    • Safety regulations for equipment and facilities
    • Proper use and operation of equipment

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-year technical certificate or 5 years of management experience in the heavy equipment industry
  • PC proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Primarily based in a front desk or office environment
  • Climate-controlled workspace with standard office equipment
  • Frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and internal staff
  • Regular visits to shop and yard areas to support operations

  • Outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Requires awareness of safety in active work environments
  • Ability to transition between office and operational settings
  • Strong communication, coordination, and multitasking skills required
