Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager will effectively manage the extrusion operations team to achieve maximum results for Safety, Quality, Productivity and Efficiency. Direct the day-to-day operations of the extrusion facility. Provide the leadership to develop teamwork among team members to allow them to continually improve process and products.This position is responsible for the supervision of at least 150 employees with at least 5 direct reports, which would manage the remainder of the work force.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain an effective safety culture.
- Provide an operation plan and clear direction to support the site vision, meet the Annual Operating Plan (budget) and drive Key Performance Indicators.
- Meet quality and service standards through documented processes, statistical methods, effective communication, follow-up, and proper training. Build working relationships with commercial and internal / external customers.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System. Collaborate on improvement to Nashville’s QMS system based on identified risks.
- Champion continuous improvement within operations to KPI performance, improve line capabilities, and contribute to the financial well-being of the site.
- Contribute to the plant budgeting process, including capital requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to Operations through planning, communicating expectations and follow-up.
- Follow the escalation process so the site leadership is informed promptly of production deviations that have potential financial or customer impacts.
- Coordinate plant operations needs with support areas including Maintenance, Process Engineering, Sales/Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Global Engineering, and other sites.
- Respond with proper level of urgency as situations call for including internal and external support as needed.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Training Coordinator to effectively develop the operations team at all levels. Identify and train an adequate number of individuals to function as backups or successors for all team positions.
- Follow and support the Company’s goals and policies.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS/BA degree required preferably in an Engineering Discipline; or ten years of manufacturing experience with three of those years being in Production Management; or a combination of both.
- Minimum of 5-10 years manufacturing leadership experience. Experience in plastics extrusion strong preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high performing teams- especially Process Engineering teams.
- Demonstrated strong supervisory and project management experience.
- Knowledge of and skills in the use of extrusion machines, office machines (computer and copier) and business procedures. Strong computer aptitude and experience.
- Results oriented and able to overcome multiple obstacles to achieve results.
- Excellent communication skills and very good persuasive skills. Need technical skills and a good ability to understand technical data and issues.
- Understands manufacturing process and operational principles of production. Prefer experience with cast extrusion processes.
- Strong computer aptitude and experience with office machines (computer and copier) and business procedures. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office required. Database development experience preferred.
