Job Title: Archivist
Location: Beaverton, OR
Reason for opening: Project support - Part time 16 hours a week - Two 8-hour shifts on campus weekly
Expected contract length: 10 Months Through May 2027

Team details & who they will work with:
The Department of Archives Archivist is responsible for guiding the stewardship, preservation, organization, and accessibility of the organization s physical and digital archival collections. This role supports collection management, archival processing, data governance, preservation planning, and policy development while ensuring practices meet the highest archival standards. The Archivist partners closely with cross-functional teams to preserve and promote the company s historical, product, and corporate legacy.

Desired Candidate Profile:
Minimum required years of experience:
Minimum 3 5 years of professional experience in archives, records management, museums, special collections, or a related environment.

Education requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Archival Studies, Library Science, History, Museum Studies, Information Science, or a related field required.
Master s degree preferred.
Must have skills:
Experience managing both physical and digital collections.
Ability to lift and move archival materials and storage containers up to 30 pounds.
Ability to work in archival storage environments that may contain dust or other allergens.

Nice to have skills:
Experience with collection management systems and digital asset management platforms. MuseumPlus preferred.
Experience developing policies, procedures, and metadata standards preferred.
Software/technical requirements:
Experience with archival databases, collection management systems, and digital asset management tools.
Previous industry experience preference: Plus working with client plus but experience with archiving will be more crucial

The Archivist partners closely with cross-functional teams to preserve and promote the company s historical, product, and corporate legacy.

Key Responsibilities
Collection Management
  • Appraise, assess, and condition artifact according to archival best practices.
  • Maintain and enhance collection management processes, documentation standards, and data frameworks.
  • Maintain archival database and collection management system.
  • Explore and implement capabilities within collection management systems to improve collection documentation and accessibility.
  • Support archival projects and programs.
Preservation and Conservation
  • Evaluate artifacts and archival materials for loan and exhibition suitability.
  • Conduct condition assessments and recommend preservation protocols and treatments for artifacts and environment.
  • Assist with disaster preparedness and collection protection initiatives.

Digital Archives and Technology
  • Partner with Digital Systems Lead to develop and maintain metadata, taxonomy, and digital preservation standards.
  • Partner with Digital Systems Lead to evaluate and implement tools, workflows, and emerging technologies.
  • Support digital asset management planning to ensure long-term accessibility of digital collections.
Policy Development, Documentation, and Training
  • Maintain collection management policies, processing guidelines, handling procedures, and deaccessioning standards.
  • Maintain documentation supporting archival operations and stewardship practices.
  • Develop and deliver training on archival best practices, collection management system, and preservation procedures.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor s degree in Archival Studies, Library Science, History, Museum Studies, Information Science, or a related field required.
  • Master s degree preferred.
Experience:
