About Illuminating Design

Illuminating Design creates year‑round exterior lighting solutions for commercial properties, HOAs, and luxury homes across Metro Atlanta. As we grow, we’re hiring an Operations Lead to maintain a big‑picture view of all projects, resources, schedules, and initiatives. This role is primarily office‑based and focuses on strategic planning, team leadership, and process improvement, supported by a field‑based second‑in‑command who manages daily on‑site activity.

Position Summary

The Operations Lead ensures all projects move smoothly from contract handoff through completion. This role oversees field operations at a strategic level—coordinating schedules, resources, inventory, and communication to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable installations. Ideal candidates have experience managing operations or field teams in installation‑based industries.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

  • Maintain visibility across all active and upcoming projects
  • Oversee multiple Concurrent installations projects
  • Ensure crews follow established processes and quality standards
  • Coordinate materials, logistics, and readiness with the field leadership team

Team Leadership

  • Support and develop field staff through the second‑in‑command
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Scheduling & Resource Planning

  • Build and manage weekly labor schedules
  • Allocate crews, equipment, and materials efficiently
  • Coordinate with sales team on project specifications

Fleet & Inventory Management

  • Maintain operations and accurate inventory
  • Forecast and purchase materials
  • Oversee fleet and equipment readiness

Customer Communication

  • Serve as the primary operational contact during project execution
  • Provide proactive client communications and resolve issues quickly

Performance & Financial Management

  • Monitor labor efficiency, job costing, and margins
  • Lead post‑project reviews and implement improvements

Requirements

Required

  • 5+ years managing operations or field teams in low‑voltage construction, service, or installation environments
  • Experience coordinating multiple simultaneous projects
  • Strong leadership, scheduling, and operational planning skills
  • Strong in process improvement and able to generate solutions within guidelines
  • Understands different worker personalities and how to motivate diverse teams
  • Proven ability to train and develop teams
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Preferred

  • Georgia General Low Voltage License 
  • Experience in exterior lighting or related trades (landscape, irrigation, electrical, outdoor living, etc.)
  • Experience managing seasonal workforce fluctuations
  • Inventory, warehouse, and fleet management experience
  • Service‑based business background (customer‑centric)
  • Familiarity with project management or field documentation software
