The Operational Control Specialist (OCS) maximizes joint operations responsibility by delivering comprehensive, real-time aviation support services to Air Ambulance (AA) duty Fixed Wing pilots. The OCS shall monitor and assist with aviation decision-making related to risk, safety, and compliance, in accordance with published standards. The OCS exercises operational control over company resources for safe and efficient AA operations. This position will report to the Manager of Operations Control Center.
Responsibilities:
Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Operations (D.O.), the OCS shall perform the following:
Direct resources as required to promote safe and efficient operations
Review flight risk assessments submitted before each flight and address and mitigate elevated risk when applicable
Communicate with the appropriate communications center and pilot regarding known and perceived risks related to each flight
Obtain and disseminate information to duty pilots as it pertains to routes, facilities, NOTAMS, Navaids, TFRs, and company policies
Monitor and interpret multiple weather resources on an ongoing basis, to include all elements of a standard weather briefing
Serve as a resource for pilots concerning weather interpretation and updates
Assist Communication Specialists as needed during emergency events
Provide strong problem-solving skills
MinimumRequired Qualifications:
Must reside in Lewisville or be willing to relocate near our corporate headquarters in Lewisville, TX.
Commercial/Instrument pilot license
Excellent computer skills, including MS Office and flight/weather tracking software
Ability to maintain composure under pressure, work effectively and accurately with frequent interruptions, and set/reset multiple priorities
Ability to communicate professionally, effectively, and persuasively both orally and in writing at all levels of the organization
Highly knowledgeable of the FAR/AIM, Operations Manual, Operations Specifications, Flight Manuals, and other resources pertinent to flight operations
Ability to work within a robust team environment
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Preferred Education:
Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent is desired.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, balance, sit, crouch, kneel, or crawl unassisted for extended periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
