Facility & Division Information:

Operations and Strategy provides management and oversight for critical administrative and technical services, enabling the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) to achieve its goals. It is responsible for many support functions to make our agency as efficient, effective, and impactful as possible. The goal of Operations and Strategy is to provide quality customer service, efficient workflows, and high-quality support so that CDHS can achieve its goal of helping families to thrive. This mission is carried out through several specialized lanes:

  • Organizational Performance and Compliance: This lane ensures the agency operates with integrity and accountability by managing Legal and Risk frameworks. It focuses on maintaining high standards of performance while navigating complex regulatory environments.

  • Communications: This team serves as the vital link between the agency and the public, ensuring that information is clear, accessible, and transparent to both internal stakeholders and the families CDHS serves.

  • Infrastructure: Powering the agency's physical and digital foundations, this lane includes the Division of Business Innovation, Technology and Security (BITS) and Facilities Management. Together, they provide secure technological tools and safe physical environments.

  • Human Resources: Recognizing that people are the agency's greatest asset, HR focuses on talent acquisition, employee development, and fostering a supportive workplace culture that empowers staff to fulfill the CDHS mission.

Description of Job:

This position is designed to provide high-quality administrative support for the Communications (COMMS) team and Strategic Operations and Solutions (SOS) team, Chief Infrastructure Officer (CIO), and the CORA Team. By functioning as an administrative floater within these teams, this position acts as a highly adaptable resource that provides temporary, on-demand support and coverage across Operations and Strategy to ensure seamless operations.

Primary Job Duties Include:

  • Shared General Administrative Support for Operations and Strategy Teams - The PAII handles general administrative overflow that applies to COMMS, SOS, and Chief Infrastructure Officer.

  • Designated Administrative Responsibilities - Provides high-level administrative, operational, and coordination support across Communications (COMMS), Strategic Operations & Solutions (SOS), CORA, and for the Chief Infrastructure Officer (CIO), including inbox management, meeting logistics, data reporting, software procurement, and records coordination.

  • Other duties as assigned - Backup support to the Executive Assistant (EA) of Operations and Strategy and Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Option 1: Experience Only:

Five (5) years of relevant experience working for the Department of Human Services or other State agencies and providing administrative or executive support to multiple teams, managers, or senior leaders, including calendar management, meeting coordination, correspondence, and document preparation. Including experience in customer service or stakeholder support, with a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and respond effectively to diverse internal and external audiences. Managing confidential or sensitive information with professionalism. Experience supporting functions related to communications, operations, compliance, public records, infrastructure, or human resources would be especially valuable. Experience with project management/coordination

Option 2: Education and Experience:

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience working for the Department of Human Services or other State agencies, and providing administrative or executive support to multiple teams, managers, or senior leaders, including calendar management, meeting coordination, correspondence, and document preparation. Including experience in customer service or stakeholder support, with a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and respond effectively to diverse internal and external audiences. Managing confidential or sensitive information with professionalism. Experience supporting functions related to communications, operations, compliance, public records, infrastructure, or human resources would be especially valuable. Experience with project management/coordination equal to five (5) years

  • Administrative and Technical Proficiency: Experience with office administration, calendar management, document preparation, meeting coordination, and proficiency in office software and collaborative technology platforms.

  • Problem-Solving and Initiative: Independently resolve routine administrative challenges to maintain workflow continuity.

  • Time Management and Prioritization: Balance competing demands, manage shifting deadlines, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.

  • Confidentiality and Professional Judgment: Demonstrate ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, particularly when supporting executive staff and compliance-related functions.

  • Knowledge of Government or Public Service Operations (Preferred): Familiarity with state agency procedures

  • COWINS Partnership Agreement: Relevant years of State service, prorated for part-time, that contribute to a candidates position-related knowledge, skill, ability, behavior, or other posted competency should be considered as a preferred qualification and given weight under the process.

  • TRANSFERS ONLY : Relevant years of State service will be considered as a preferred qualification and given the weight of at least 15% of the overall score under the process.

CDHS Selection Process Explanation

Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40/hrs per week). Part-time employment is calculated on a prorated basis to determine qualifications.
