Operations and Logistics Supervisor - Commercial Construction - Base Salary to 100k/year - Warren, MI

  • Our client is a growing specialty contractor serving commercial, industrial, municipal, healthcare, education, manufacturing, government, and private-sector construction projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Operations and Logistics Supervisor to oversee purchasing, inventory, fleet, yard operations, shipping and receiving, and company equipment while supporting field operations and project execution.
  • The Operations and Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing purchasing activities, inventory control, vendor relationships, fleet coordination, shipping and receiving, yard organization, and company-owned tools and equipment. This individual works closely with project managers, superintendents, vendors, and field personnel to ensure materials, equipment, and vehicles are available when needed to keep construction projects operating efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and supplies to support commercial construction projects and field crews.
  • Partner with project managers and superintendents to ensure materials and equipment are available to meet project schedules.
  • Procure construction materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and services.
  • Obtain competitive pricing, negotiate with vendors, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Issue, track, and reconcile purchase orders while maintaining purchasing documentation.
  • Oversee all shipping and receiving activities, including verifying deliveries, inspecting materials, coordinating returns, and maintaining shipment records.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of fencing materials, hardware, supplies, tools, and consumables.
  • Conduct inventory counts, audits, and material tracking while implementing inventory control procedures to minimize shortages and waste.
  • Manage company-owned tools and equipment, including issuance, tracking, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and replacement planning.
  • Coordinate maintenance, inspections, licensing, and compliance for company vehicles and trailers.
  • Track fleet utilization, fuel usage, maintenance expenses, and vehicle performance.
  • Oversee yard organization, material storage, and operational safety.
  • Maintain communication between office staff, vendors, warehouse personnel, and field crews to support efficient project execution.

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain, operations, or materials management.
  • Experience managing inventory control and material availability.
  • Experience purchasing construction materials, equipment, tools, or industrial supplies at high volume.
  • Experience coordinating deliveries and supporting field operations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating purchases.
  • Experience overseeing company-owned tools and equipment.
  • Experience managing fleet maintenance, inspections, and compliance.
  • Experience overseeing yard organization, warehouse operations, or material storage.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in commercial construction, industrial construction, specialty contracting, building materials, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment.

Compensation:
  • Base salary in the 85k - 100k/year range
