How You’ll Make an Impact

Night Shift | Sun–Wed (alt) | 5:30 PM – 5:30 AM

About the Role

Step into the center of a fast-paced, mission-critical IT Operations environment. As an IT Operations Support Technician on our 24x7 Operations team, you’ll be the frontline responder for enterprise infrastructure events—protecting uptime, performance, and stability for our customers around the clock. You’ll blend hands-on troubleshooting with sharp operational awareness, using tools, dashboards, and ticketing systems to keep services running and risks contained.

What You’ll Do

Stay Ahead of the Environment

  • Maintain real-time awareness of system health, recent changes, risks, and priority services.

  • Translate technical events into mission impact, identifying issues early and preventing escalation.

Deliver Insight, Not Just Data

  • Use monitoring tools, logs, and ITSM platforms to identify trends, recurring issues, and potential outages before they occur.

  • Spot anomalies across systems and recognize early indicators of larger problems.

Own the Incident Lifecycle

  • Monitor infrastructure, applications, and services across a hybrid enterprise.

  • Validate alerts, separate symptoms from root causes, and quickly assess scope and impact.

  • Perform first-line triage and escalate effectively with clear, actionable summaries.

  • Manage incidents from creation through resolution, coordinating closely with Tier 2 and Tier 3 teams.

  • Ensure seamless shift handoffs with detailed, accurate documentation.

Communicate with Confidence

  • Provide calm, clear, fact-based updates during incidents and change events.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, engineering partners, and mission stakeholders.

  • Execute established SOPs, including outage coordination and planned change steps.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll operate at the center of real-time enterprise operations where your situational awareness, decision-making, and communication directly affect uptime and mission success. This position is a strong launching point for career advancement—offering pathways into senior, principal, and leadership roles as you deepen your technical and operational expertise.

If you thrive in high-tempo environments, stay calm under pressure, and love turning data into action, we’d love to meet you.

What You Bring

Experience

  • 3+ years in IT operations, network operations center support, systems administration, or a similar role.

  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration.

  • Familiarity with networks, storage, and virtualization concepts.

  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Nagios, BMC, etc.

  • Experience with ITSM platforms like ServiceNow or equivalent.

Operational Skills

  • Understanding of ITIL incident, event, and change management.

  • Ability to work in a 24x7 or shift-based environment (nights, weekends, holidays).

  • Strong documentation habits and commitment to clean ticket hygiene and shift turnover.

Soft Skills & Credentials

  • Excellent written and verbal communication—especially under pressure.

  • Team-oriented mindset, coachable attitude, and professional integrity.

  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Why D2 Consulting?

At D2, your work directly contributes to national security, and your professional growth is just as important as the mission. You’ll collaborate with a close-knit, supportive team in a fast-moving 24x7 environment where your contributions are recognized and rewarded.
