Operating Room RN – Registered Nurse
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Shift: Day Shift | 3x12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Santa Rosa, California. This opportunity is with a busy acute care hospital and is ideal for OR nurses with strong trauma experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process
- Assist surgeons and procedural teams during surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection prevention standards
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and surgical instruments
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, surgical techs, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document patient care accurately within the EMR system
- Respond effectively in emergency and trauma surgical situations
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
- Required experience in:
- Trauma
- Neuro
- Vascular
- Orthopedic surgery
- Active BLS certification required
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Epic charting experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
Schedule & Additional Information
- Day shift schedule with variable start times (7:00 AM or 9:00 AM)
- Weekend requirement applies
- On-call required and shared equally among staff
- Approximately 6–8 call shifts every 6 weeks
- Includes nights, evenings, weekends, and holiday coverage as needed
- Travelers may be required to cover one night shift during the assignment
- Floating to similar units may be required based on facility needs
- Block scheduling available at manager discretion
