The University of New Mexico Center for Memory & Aging CMA and the Department of Neurology invite applications for a new open rank open track faculty position. The selected applicant will be Associate Director of the New Mexico Alzheimers Disease Research Center NM ADRC.

Fellowship training in cognitive disorders and experience working in an ADRC is preferred. The individual will be part of the UNM Center for Memory & Aging research programs and will be recruiting and assessing participants in two program project level grants MarkVCID httpsmarkvcid.partners.org and NM ADRC httpshsc.unm.eduresearchcenters-programsnmadrc.

It is expected that the candidate will have ongoing independent NIH research funding. Clinical duties will include direct patient care in a memory and aging clinic. Education duties include teaching medical students residents and fellows.

The NM ADRC CMA has ongoing studies in many areas with a focus on neuroinflammation vascular contributions to cognitive impairment health disparities and plasma-based biomarkers. The University of New Mexico School of Medicine UNM SOM has strong research faculty with excellent resources for clinical and laboratory studies. The newly funded NM ADRC is committed to providing dementia services for New Mexicos rural and medically under served populations.

The applicant needs strong administrative skills and the ability to direct a large clinical research team.

Neuroimaging is done in collaboration with the Mind Research Center Network MRNhttpswww.mrn.org which is housed in the same on-campus building as CMA research. Laboratory space and facilities include a Quanterix HD-1 and Meso Scale Discovery instruments that allow for the measurement of plasma-based biomarkers.

The position includes research start-up funds state-of-the-art research and shared core facilities. Salary is competitive and dependent on faculty rank.

The CMA is a stand-alone research center reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine. CMA has a track record of NIH funding and has recently been awarded a NIH Alzheimers Disease Research Center. It is poised to expand rapidly with support from the UNM Health Sciences Center Administration.
