Posting Summary

Rutgers University's School of Health Professions (SHP) invites applications for an open-rank, full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) Division of the Department of Clinical Laboratory and Medical Imaging Sciences (CLMIS). The successful candidate will join a comprehensive academic unit that offers the Master of Science in CLS (MS-CLS) and the Doctor of Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS). The MS-CLS program and DCLS pre-residency curriculum are delivered entirely online. Interprofessional education and collaboration are actively encouraged within the Department of CLMIS and SHP, fostering a distinctive environment for faculty growth and scholarly engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and continuously improve graduate-level online CLS courses in molecular diagnostics, clinical immunology, clinical chemistry, and related disciplines.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students, including supervision of capstone projects, applied research, and DCLS residency experiences.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including CLS research, educational scholarship, quality improvement/implementation science initiatives, and contributions to the professional literature.
  • Contribute to service by participating on committees, supporting program assessment and accreditation efforts, and assisting with student recruitment and outreach.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, EdD, DCLS or MD with CP/laboratory medicine experience). Doctoral candidates (ABD) with relevant CLS experience will be considered if degree completion is expected within one year of appointment.
  • Current U.S. professional certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP)CM.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of clinical MLS work experience
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in a CLS program
  • Experience with online pedagogy, learning management systems, or distance education course design
  • Evidence of scholarly or professional activity (e.g., publications, presentations, funded projects)
