Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

This full-time Pharmacy Filling Technician role is based in a fast-paced closed door pharmacy environment in Fort Myers, FL. You receive, transcribe, and enter resident prescriptions into the pharmacy operating systems, then accurately fill, package, and prepare medications for shipment. You support safe, timely, and efficient medication dispensing for long-term-care residents while delivering dependable customer service and maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Receive resident prescriptions and verify completeness, accuracy, and legibility before processing.
  • Transcribe and enter prescription information into the pharmacy operating systems with a high level of accuracy.
  • Perform order entry for new and refill prescriptions, ensuring correct medications, dosages, and directions.
  • Fill and dispense medications according to prescription orders and pharmacy procedures.
  • Package medications appropriately for long-term-care use, including preparing items for shipment.
  • Prepare filled prescriptions for shipment, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and packaging.
  • Support prescription intake by collecting and confirming necessary patient and prescription information.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate data entry and documentation for all prescriptions processed.
  • Use computer systems and related technology to manage prescription workflows and records.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume filling environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable regulations related to dispensing and handling medications.
  • Assist team members as needed to meet daily filling, packaging, and shipping goals.
  • Stand and move throughout the shift to complete filling, packaging, and shipping tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Active registration as a pharmacy technician.
  • Experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail pharmacy, long-term-care pharmacy, or similar setting.
  • Proficiency in prescription intake, including receiving and processing resident prescriptions.
  • Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and speed.
  • Ability to perform order entry and work within pharmacy operating systems.
  • Knowledge of dispensing, filling, and fulfillment processes in a pharmacy environment.
  • Customer service skills within a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume filling role.
  • Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and perform repetitive tasks safely.
  • Solid computer skills for operating pharmacy software and related systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy workflows and customer interaction.
  • Familiarity with medication packaging and preparation for shipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of dispensing and data entry.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and workflow demands as volume shifts.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with pharmacy team members.

Work Environment

This role is based in a closed door pharmacy that operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a primary focus on filling prescriptions. The position is full time, with a schedule that varies and includes shifts Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Hours are subject to change as prescription volume is transferred to this location, and you must be comfortable working the later shift. The work requires standing for up to 8 hours per shift and frequent movement to complete filling, packaging, and shipping tasks. You will work extensively with computer-based pharmacy operating systems and data entry tools while handling medications and packaging materials in a professional pharmacy setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Myers Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
