Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an On-Call Chaplain for their Spiritual Care department responsible for providing spiritual care to patients, families, hospital personnel, and medical staff by assisting

them in the integration of the experience of illness, trauma, and loss with their own beliefs and

practices. Serves as a liaison with physicians, patient, families, and the Ethics Committee in

addressing ethical issues regarding treatment decisions. Works closely with community spiritual

leaders to ensure continuity of spiritual care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

  • Minimum: Master''s degree in theology or related field and successful completion of one unit of CPE/CPT from an accredited certifying organization.
  • Preferred: One additional CPE/CPT unit from a leading certifying organization.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Preferred: Chaplaincy Board Certification through a leading certifying organization.

Years of Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum: Experience working with people addressing spiritual and ethical issues.
  • Preferred: Six months working in a hospital chaplaincy program.
