The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians to support cultural resource projects across the Intermountain West and Southwest regions. This position offers the opportunity to participate in a variety of field-based archaeological efforts, including survey, monitoring, testing, and data recovery.
Work hours will vary based on project needs and may include extended field rotations. This is an ideal role for candidates with field school experience and an interest in Cultural Resource Management (CRM).
Essential Job Functions:
Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including:
Pedestrian survey
Monitoring
Testing and excavation
Data recovery
Record archaeological sites using standardized state forms and digital tools
Collect and manage field data using:
GPS units (Trimble)
ArcGIS / Field Maps / Arc Collector
Tablets and digital photography
Assist with mapping and documentation of cultural resources
Complete post-field documentation and reporting in a timely and accurate manner
Work under the direction of Field Directors and Principal Investigators
Adhere to all health and safety protocols
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
Additional duties as required.

Ability to perform strenuous fieldwork, including:
Walking up to 10 miles per day
Carrying 35+ lbs. of equipment
Bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
Ability to conduct manual labor, including excavation using hand tools

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $23.00 - $32.00 per hour
Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
