The Office of Information Technology encourages applications for an IT Construction Project Manager! This role will provide project management for assigned IT and campus projects and participate in the continued evolution of the OIT Project Management Office.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the management of multiple concurrent medium complexity and urgency OIT projects at various lifecycle stages. A primary element of this role is the ability to be very flexible in changes in scope, resources or timing related to an assigned project. This position will be responsible for ensuring a high level of customer service to internal and external clients by supporting the organization's strategic goals, while constantly measuring processes/procedures to improve the overall success of operations.

Project Management

  • Perform overall management of projects, often several concurrently that are critical to OIT's business operations and overall mission. Develop a detailed project schedule, timeline, resource requirements, and budget. Coordinate efforts of project members to stay on schedule and accomplish defined objectives. Produce regular status reports that include project landmark status, risks, issues and concerns, and recommendations for action to remain on schedule. Anticipate issues and proactively create contingency plans. Facilitate communication with project sponsors, partners, team members, constituents, service and support personnel, and management by creating and implementing a communication plan in coordination with OIT Communications.

Process Development and Management

  • Responsible for process development and management in the area of IT construction. Develop standardized processes in order to reproduce consistent high quality levels of service. Develop and manage processes to ensure optimum work methods that can be translated into effective practices, and then to create the organizational circumstances to gain long term adherence to these optimum methods and conditions.

  • This position will work primarily onsite 3-4 days a week. This schedule will adjust at times due to project requirements. Position works standard university business hours.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field. A combination of education and relevant experience as described below may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • 2+ years of project management experience that includes a combination of the following:
  • Managing IT projects through their entire life cycle, including successful completion and closeout.
  • Managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Staffing and managing project resources in a weak matrix organization.
  • Client and vendor management.
  • Risk Management and Issues Resolution.
  • Familiarity with a variety of SDLC's used for IT projects including Agile development (Scrum, kanban, etc).
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

  • Knowledge and expertise in the application of project management methodologies.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills.

  • ITIL Foundations v3/4 certification.
  • PROSCI certification.
  • Ability to manage scope, time and resources using standard commercially available tools.
  • Experience completing work and motivating change in an inclusive, agreement driven environment.
  • Experience with or demonstrated understanding of the distributed administrative nature of a large research university.
  • Experience managing information technology projects that produce enterprise class products and services.
  • Experience managing IT construction, renovation and upgrade projects.
  • Formal training in conflict resolution and/or root cause analysis is desirable.
  • Knowledge of and/or formal training in information and communications technology services or applications.
  • Audiovisual experience.
