Our attorneys (100+ years combined experience) represent physicians, healthcare companies, and medical facilities throughout Texas and across the country in sophisticated healthcare regulatory, administrative, and litigation matters.
Role Overview
Seasoned healthcare lawyer sought to lead complex regulatory defense and administrative proceedings. You will be the point person for OIG and payer recoupment matters, audits, and licensure issues, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Defend providers in recoupment investigations by the OIG, commercial carriers, and government payors.
- Manage licensure issues before the Texas Medical Board, Board of Nursing, and the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Run end-to-end administrative processes: investigations, informal settlement conferences, hearings, and appeals.
- Advise on compliance requirements and risk mitigation for healthcare providers and entities.
- Draft and manage responses to subpoenas, audits, and records requests from state and federal agencies.
- Prepare motions, briefs, advisory memoranda, and agency correspondence.
- Work directly with clients to assess exposure and craft strategic responses to regulatory actions.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
- 5+ years in healthcare regulatory, administrative proceedings, or closely related litigation.
- Experience representing physicians, nurses, or healthcare entities before state and federal administrative bodies.
- Demonstrated success handling OIG and private insurer recoupment investigations.
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Houston; strong team and client collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,000 – $190,000, depending on experience.
