Student Assistants administratively support professional staff members in all duties associated with meeting the needs of the Office of Institutional Advancement and External Affairs. The Student Assistant will assist with various duties in the office.

Minimum Education/Experience
Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters or enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the summer semester.
OR
Current OCCC student with a federal work study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work in organized manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
Positive communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and interact with customers in a positive manner
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or similar software programs
Accurate spelling and filing skills
High attention to detail

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Advancement office and occasionally move about the OCCC main campus to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to visitors, administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other office equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to work on equipment, to assist customers, and to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)
Job duties will include but are not limited to:
Answer the phone during peak times.
Make phone calls as directed to various stakeholders.
Make copies, sort and prepare materials for distribution as needed.
Sort and prepare material for distribution as needed.
Assist with special projects and event preparations.
Deliver information/material to departments as needed.
Storage organization.
Meeting set-up and break down.
Post and remove signage/banners.
Process mail.
Support during projects and events.
Order food and drinks for events.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures)
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
