Job Title: Photographer Department: Office of Communications Supervisor: Lee Adams

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00 Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.

The High Point University Office of Communications is a team of creative professionals who are passionate about sharing the High Point University experience with the world. We serve as the primary point of contact for all High Point University communications efforts, both internal and external. Job Description

The student photographer will help share the visual story of HPU students, faculty, and staff by photographing important university events, both on and off-campus. These photos will be used on a variety of platforms including the HPU website. The photographer will upload images to the asset management system, and may organize photos within that system.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most job duties on campus, with optional jobs within 5 miles of campus. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. Hours per week will vary according to assignments and scheduling.

Responsibilities

Serve as a professional representative of the Office of Communications at a variety of events Serve as a primary or secondary photographer at events on and off-campus Capture energetic images that show the passion and enthusiasm of students, faculty, and staff Document action-packed, fast-paced events Ability to work nights and weekends Ability to coordinate large scale group photos Ability to archive and organize files Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Must own and have experience in operating a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Must have excellent communication skills so you can direct individuals (students, staff, faculty, etc.).

Must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA Understanding of basic photography skills: ISO, shutter speeds, F-Stops, composition Ability to adapt to changing situations Excellent communication skills Organized, reliable, and independent
