Office/Mill Cleaner

  • Monday through Friday from 1pm-9:30pm.

Job purpose

This position consists of all aspects of cleaning/disinfecting the main plant and Flitchwood plant.

Duties and responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of the Office Cleaner include:

  • Ability to push/pull cleaning cart.
  • Ability to use handheld cleaning tools and electric cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of safe and proper use of various cleaning chemicals.
  • Knowledgeable in disinfecting high touch surfaces in main areas of both plants.
  • Ability to clean/disinfect lunchroom, bathrooms, offices, punch clocks, main doors, and railings.
  • Ability to water plants outside during seasonal times.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and prioritize cleaning/disinfecting tasks.
  • Ability to maintain first aid kits and safety glass cleaning stations.
  • Ability to maintain cleaning supply inventory and communicate needs.
  • Ability to assist with seasonal lawn care using weed eater and riding lawnmower.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Follows 5S/Continuous Improvement and quality initiatives with understanding basic production needs and initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required additional technical and boiler schooling is preferred. Requires the ability to read, write and use basic and advanced arithmetic. On the job training is provided and this position requires approximately 3 to 6 months to become proficient.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Knowledgeable of various hand and electric tools to complete cleaning procedures. Experience and ability to operate mobile equipment.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating/work order instructions.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate with others at all levels in both oral and written methods.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Individual should effectively communicate with the coworkers and perform their job in a safe manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This position may require work from heights or uneven surfaces, and a wide array of personal protections is required: Safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, steal toes, fire retardant clothing, bump caps/hard hats and other forms dependent upon job duties and location.

Physical requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach, push/pull, lift, and carry; use hands to handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
