EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.

PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:

Assist the principal, assistant principal, principal's secretary and data processor with their duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greets parents, students and visitors - Signs in guests on Raptor - Verification for student sign-out.

  2. Answers phone and takes messages for the faculty, staff and students.

  3. Provides information to callers and visitors as needed.

  4. Records tardies and maintains records of Individual student tardies and issues letters to parents of students with excess tardies.

  5. Collects and delivers District mail to cafeteria for pickup and distributes incoming mail to faculty and staff.

  6. Provides registration forms and information regarding necessary paperwork and documents to enroll new students to parents/guardians enrolling their child.

  7. Checks required paperwork/documents, makes copies of documents and after assignment to a classroom, escorts the child and parents/guardians to assigned room.

  8. Responsible for obtaining substitutes for faculty/staff members requiring a substitute during school hours or if a staff member cannot obtain a substitute when reporting an absence through the Substitute Employee Management System (SEMS).

  9. Provides faculty/staff members with an up to date list of current substitutes and their phone numbers.

  10. Collects and maintains records of daily/weekly absence record forms and verifies them against absence listing report received from Central Office.

  11. Notifies faculty/staff members of their need to sign absence listing report if they were absent.

  12. Collects and distributes monies for gifts, cards, flowers as needed for faculty and staff and their families for births, deaths, graduations and hospitalization as dictated by the Family Fund guidelines.

  13. Collects information/events for the coming week, prepares and distributes bulletin to faculty/staff members.

  14. Prepares, copies and distributes STAT packets provided by the counselors to STAT Committee members for their meetings.

  15. Gathers information and creates and distributes monthly calendar of events.

  16. Obtains names of students receiving awards at the end of each six weeks and the school year from teachers and prepares listing and distributes to appropriate personnel.

  17. Distributes ribbons, prepares certificates, pins, coupons, trophies and/or plaques for students receiving awards.

  18. Distributes to students and collects completed Impact Aid forms of federally connected families.

  19. Maintains confidentiality of information.

  20. Reports to work on time every day.

  21. Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Moderate proficiency in the use of a computer and knowledge and ability to use and/or learn to use Design, Human Resource, Internet, Spreadsheet and Word Processing Software
  • Necessary interpersonal skills to positively interact with a variety of people with different personalities
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to rick of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
