Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
Job Goal: To coordinate instructional services by providing assistance to the administrators and teachers at each school, so that every child is involved in an educational program that meets that child's learning needs and supports mastery of the skills required to demonstrate the educational goals of the Oldham County Schools.

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least ten years' successful experience in teaching and school administration including building level experience as principal.
- A master's degree or higher.
- A valid superintendent's certificate.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Serves, as necessary, in the absence of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for Support Services as chief administrative officer in the school district.
- Attends board meetings and prepares such reports for the board as the Superintendent may request.
- Prepares drafts of needed Board policies and administrative rules in areas of responsibility for the Superintendent's review and action.
- Builds and supports a high-performance educational team ? inspiring, integrating, and aligning the academic work of the district.
- Develops and maintains clear and inclusive decision-making processes to ensure integration of academic supports and services, as well as effective ongoing technical management of the schools.
- Identifies and implements effective curriculum, instruction, and assessment policies and practices that maximize educational options and lead to improved achievement for all students K-12.
- Balances educational consistency with appropriate autonomy at schools, fosters best practice sharing and opportunities for collaboration at all levels.
- Provides the required support and fosters a culture that motivates teachers and administrators to perform at the level of excellence necessary to improve student achievement and narrow identified achievement gaps.
- Leads district and school leaders in designing and implementing district and school improvement plans.
- Develops and oversees a world class professional development program for principals and teachers.
- Leads and directs the focus of the Student Learning Division.
- Works with Literacy Coaches to assist in effective utilization and implementation of all learning goals.
- Coordinates the district's new teacher induction program.
- Oversees and coordinates the district plan for textbook acquisition.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent may assign
