Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates in Professional and Organizational Development
  • Develops and implements personal and professional goals and promotes professional growth.
  • Assists in the ongoing development of the Rehab Services department and program through defining the philosophy and objectives, performance improvement, policy and procedure development, marketing, etc. as requested. Participates in one Rehab work group. Assists in professional growth of co-workers through providing cross training and program development (i.e. conducts one inservice/year, acts in mentor role, etc.).
  • Participates in two department and/or hospital education, promotion and/or advocacy activities within the community.
  • Maintains an Efficient and Effective Work Schedule
  • Maintains workload that is consistent with other staff members including distribution of patients to other staff. Willingly accepts new patients and assignments.
  • Utilizes allotted time and resources effectively to accomplish goals. Able to prioritize and/or reorganize workload in response to stat or heavy workload. Offers assistance to coworkers during times of fluctuating census. Able to perform several tasks simultaneously.
  • Effectively solicits help from others when necessary. Initiates correction of minor problems as they occur.
  • Completes documentation according to established guidelines.
  • Submits appropriate charges by 9:00 am of the following business day (exception end of month charges by end of day).
  • Provides Clinical Cervices
  • Implements treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist appropriate to the population served. Develops and implements treatment plans appropriate to the population served.
  • Provides therapeutic intervention appropriate to the population served. Performs technical skills appropriate to the population served.
  • Monitors patient progress and informs the Occupational Therapist of a change in patient status. Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, modifies therapeutic intervention as needed and appropriate for the population served.
  • Communicates with patient and family in a manner that can be understood by the population served. Provides education appropriate to the population served.
  • Participates in team approach to treatment.
  • Participates in discharge planning appropriate to the population served. Provides clinical supervision of Aide as appropriate in the delivery of patient care.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant by the Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy

Education Required:

Completion of an Accredited in Occupational Therapist Assistant Curriculum with skills competency and proficiency in the principles, concepts and techniques of the Occupational Therapy profession

Experience Required:

Knowledge of the occupational therapy profession as normally acquired through academic experience, clinical affiliations and/or previous work experience in the field

Demonstrated competence in the care of populations served which may include neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries weight up to 50 pounds. Ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols with vision and hearing within normal range to respond to Code alerts and equipment alarms. Work-related stress due to volume and time constraints with irregular working hours.
