TX-STAR Speech Language Services works with school districts throughout Texas to provide specialized services for students with a variety of developmental, sensory, and functional needs. We are currently seeking Occupational Therapists for school-based opportunities in the Austin and San Antonio areas.
These positions are ideal for clinicians who are passionate about helping students develop the skills necessary to participate more independently and successfully in their educational environment.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a school-based Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate student needs and provide individualized services that strengthen fine motor, sensory-processing, and functional abilities related to educational participation.
In this role, you will:
Deliver occupational therapy services that address students’ Individualized Education Program goals
Assess fine motor coordination, sensory processing, functional performance, and school-related participation
Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and educational needs
Provide therapy services in person or through teletherapy, depending on district requirements
Work closely with teachers, campus staff, families, and multidisciplinary team members
Recommend strategies, accommodations, and supports that improve access to classroom activities and daily routines
Track student performance and modify interventions according to progress and changing needs
Complete evaluations, service records, progress reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time
Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and provide professional observations and recommendations
Qualifications for This Position
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field
Current and active Texas Occupational Therapy license
Familiarity with IEP procedures, special education services, and school-based therapy practices
Ability to independently manage evaluations, services, scheduling, and documentation
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management abilities
Previous experience working with pediatric or school-based populations is preferred
