Job Summary

Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, this role involves assisting with tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative Occupational Therapy services to maximize participant independence and safety. The assistant will work with the rehabilitation team to implement care plans established by the Occupational Therapist and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote organizational values, team culture, and mission.

Job Responsibilities

  • Administer treatment programs as established by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing.
  • Coordinate with the rehabilitation team to implement activities and programs based on individual treatment plans.
  • Handle scheduling of treatment, clinical visits, and billing.
  • Document Occupational Therapy interventions in accordance with established care plans.
  • Provide training and instructions in the use and care of therapeutic equipment.
  • Track and manage maintenance for equipment.
  • Remain alert to input from team members, participants, and caregivers, and update the Occupational Therapist promptly on changes in participants' condition or functional status.
  • Participate in end-of-life care coordination and support under supervision.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all procedures and information.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures and participate in required Quality Improvement activities, staff training, and meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor and team regarding workload and priorities.
  • Complete all mandated trainings and occupational health screenings as needed.
  • Exercise flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, able to execute tasks in a quickly changing environment, and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors, their families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience and competency working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Commitment to unlocking the full potential of vulnerable seniors.

Education

  • Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
  • International degrees must be evaluated to the US equivalent.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid state Occupational Therapy Assistant License.

Hours Per Week: 40.00
Hours Per Day: 8.00
Days Per Week: 5.00
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
