Job Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role focuses on implementing individualized treatment plans, monitoring progress, and supporting residents in improving daily function and independence.
Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments to improve function and promote healing
- Provide skilled therapy interventions in accordance with physician orders under OT supervision
- Communicate patient updates, needs, and referrals to the Occupational Therapist
- Implement and modify treatment plans under OT direction
- Monitor patient response and adjust interventions as appropriate in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy goals and care plans
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards
- Attend required meetings as designated by the Director of Rehabilitation
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current Texas licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- SNF/long-term care experience preferred
- Knowledge of current treatment practices
- Familiarity with Net Health electronic documentation system preferred
