Occupational Health & Workers’ Compensation Director

 

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for anOccupational Health & Workers’ Compensation Director for JBS that reports onsite to the corporate office in Greeley, Colorado.

 

The Occupational Health & Workers’ Compensation Director is responsible for leading and advancing employee health services and workers’ compensation programs across the organization. This role ensures high-quality clinical practices, regulatory compliance, effective claims management, and data-driven performance improvement to support employee health, safety, and operational productivity.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Occupational Health Leadership
  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee occupational health programs, including development and implementation of policies and procedures aligned with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Company Medical Director and Corporate Safety & Health Director to develop and maintain standardized medical treatment protocols, including equipment and supply alignment.
  • Ensure proper collection, monitoring, and reporting of employee health data, maintaining compliance with all recordkeeping, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive effective case management practices through strong coordination with internal stakeholders (Legal, Safety, Risk) and external providers.
  • Strengthen local medical provider partnerships and improve care quality through training and engagement strategies.
  • Conduct on-site and desk audits of Occupational Health programs and manage the Occupational Health scorecard to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities.

 

  1. Workers’ Compensation & Claims Management
  • Oversee Third-Party Administrator (TPA) operations and overall workers’ compensation claims management.
  • Analyze workers’ compensation data to assess performance against company safety, health, and cost objectives.
  • Partner closely with site teams and TPAs to proactively manage new and existing claims.
  • Lead high-exposure claim reviews, including both litigated and non-litigated cases, providing strategic direction to WC managers, site leaders, and legal counsel.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Risk Management, Safety, Occupational Health, and WC teams to align strategies and outcomes.

 

  1. Compliance, Risk, and Insurance Coordination
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate audits related to insurance programs and employee benefits.
  • Collaborate with corporate and plant leadership on implementation and compliance with insurance programs.
  • Facilitate access to facilities for insurance brokers, underwriters, and loss prevention personnel as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); with Occupational Health or Case Management certification required.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in occupational health, ambulatory care, or similar healthcare environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing workers’ compensation programs, including self-insured or high-deductible structures.
  • Strong claims management expertise, including experience with complex and high-exposure cases.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strategic focus.
  • Willingness to travel 40–50%.
  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

 

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $127,000-$154,000;
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and

The posted salary range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the compensation that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, tenure, internal equity, market data, and may vary accordingly.
