    Position Summary

    Posting Note: Phoenix Children''s is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our collaborative Employee Health team. This role is ideal for an RN who enjoys building relationships, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and values variety in their day. You''ll provide clinical care for our employees while partnering with leaders across the organization to promote a healthy and safe workforce.

    This position requires a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care setting. Candidates should be confident performing vaccinations, blood draws, injections, triage, respiratory fit testing (RFT), and supporting Medical Assistants as a clinical resource. Strong venipuncture and injection skills are essential.

    The role is approximately 80% administrative and 20% direct patient care. Responsibilities include employee health screenings, new hire clearances, workers'' compensation support, exposure management (including bloodborne pathogen and needlestick exposures), infection prevention, and cross-training across multiple Occupational Health functions. We are looking for someone who enjoys learning new skills, adapts quickly, and is excited to become a versatile member of the team.

    The schedule offers flexibility with 5/8-hour shifts or 4/10-hour shifts, with clinic hours generally between 6:00 AM and 4:30 PM and occasional administrative coverage until 6:30 PM. This role will be based at the Thomas Campus, but will also rotates to support multiple Phoenix Children''s locations, including Arrowhead, Avondale, and East Valley. NO NEW GRADS, please.

    This position promotes employee health through activities and functions of the Occupational Health Program including case management of Workers Compensation claims to assure employees health and physical capabilities prior to and during employment in accordance with all applicable standards, state and federal regulations and guidelines.

    Position Duties

    • Medical Screenings

    Performs pre-employment, annual , and, Fit for Duty health assessments on all employees, volunteers, and contracted staff to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable OSHA, JCAHO, DHS, and ADA requirements and guidelines, including drug-free workplace standards.

    • Infection Control & Safety Management Education/Training
    1. Assists to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of a variety of employee health and wellness, injury, infection, and exposure prevention education programs.

    2. Works collaboratively with Infection Control, Safety, and Benefits to identify appropriate program materials and speakers.

    3. Works collaboratively with Infection Control and Safety to investigate occupational health hazards to ensure development and implementation of appropriate preventative measures to reduce potential exposure.

    4. Works collaboratively with Infection Control to plan, develop, and direct a comprehensive Occupational Health program to ensure timely notification and communication with employees and departments of required health screens, immunizations, and incidents of communicable disease exposure.

    • Work Related Injury / Illness

    Performs initial triage and follow up of all employee injuries/illness with referrals to appropriate contracted physicians or counseling facility for treatment in accordance with established protocols to ensure compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, DHS, and ADA guidelines.

    • Case Management & Administrative Support
    1. Works collaboratively with department managers and appropriate health care providers, worker`s compensation, and short-term disability programs to coordinate early return to work for light duty functions to ensure timely staff availability and placement in accordance with abilities and competence.

    2. Documents and maintains current hard and softcopy employee health files and records in accordance with applicable regulations and confidentiality standards to ensure ongoing availability of information.

    • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
