Steel Dynamics Overview

The Occupational Health Nurse reports directly to the Operations Manager and indirectly to the Occupational Health Coordinator. The successful candidate holds a valid nursing license in practicing state and current certification in CPR/AED from American Red Cross or AHA. This position will sit at Columbus Flat Roll, but will service both New Process Steel and BioCarbon. This position will not work for Columbus Flat Roll or Aluminum Dynamics. The position is full time Monday - Friday with on-call required after hours for injury management.

Responsibilities

Treatment of on-site injuries and referral to outside medical care as needed

Case management for injured workers and facilitate return to work

Provide medical surveillance for all employees including but not limited to annual audiograms, spirometry, vision screening and lead testing

Conduct new hire pre-employment drug and alcohol screening & coordinate medical examinations

Participate in ergonomics assessments and job hazard analyses

Administration of the Drug and Alcohol program according to company policy

Responsible for training employees in First Aid and CPR/AED as Medical Responders to aid in the care of injured workers

Responsible for training employees on Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Violence in the Workplace, Ergonomics and Heat Stress to meet OSHA requirements

Advise on Workers' Compensation claims, as needed

FMLA Administration

Maintain HIPPA compliant documentation

Accountable for delivery of agreed to regional health metrics and outcomes

Purchase all supplies required for the first aid clinic

Develop and meet site budget expectations

Drive increased health outcomes including reducing population health risks, managing and eliminating workplace health risks and supporting improved business outcomes through advancing employee health and wellbeing

Willingness to work closely with the Safety Coordinators at the division level to recognize hazards and prevent injury

Qualifications

Required

Active RN license in state of practice

2 or more years hospital or clinic nursing experience

Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting

Phlebotomy

Current CPR/AED certification

Travel, as needed

Preferred

3 or more years of experience in occupational nursing or emergency nursing and/or clinic experience

3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or occupational environment

Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation)

CPR/AED Instructor

Health coaching/certification

Certified Occupational Health Nurse

3 or more years of experience in occupational nursing or emergency nursing and/or clinic experience
