Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med-Surg/Labor & Delivery
Position Status: .9 fte (72 hours per pay period) - rotational days and nights (12-hour shifts), or option for straight nights if preferred. Two (2) weekends every six (6) weeks.

Salary Range: $36.73 - $51.43 / per hour (based on experience)

Join our Team! RiverView Health is currently looking for a Med-Surg/Labor & Delivery RN to join our Inpatient Team.
The Labor and Delivery and Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. The RN assesses, triages, and treats patients with a wide range of medical conditions, ensuring timely and effective care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Essential Functions:
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EPIC) and documentation standards.
- Compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in OB or Medical-Surgical nursing (cross-training preferred).
- Utilize critical thinking to manage rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Initiate life-saving interventions during obstetric or medical emergencies.
- Emergency Response to medical and surgical patients
- Cross-train to Emergency Department to assist as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and interventions.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Educate patients and families on prenatal health, postpartum recovery, disease management, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies (e.g., hemorrhage, preeclampsia).
- Deliver postpartum care, including breastfeeding support and newborn education.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean births, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.
- Support patients through labor and delivery, including pain management and emotional support.
- Obstetric Care.
- Provide wound care, manage surgical incisions, and prevent infection.
- Monitor vital signs and promptly respond to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prenatal/postoperative treatments safely.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including maternal-fetal monitoring and head-to-toe evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Current State of Minnesota RN license is required.
- Current AHA certification in ACLS, PALS, and NRP are required for this position. Will provide training to those that do not currently have active certifications.
- 1+ year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- 1+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
Must work well under pressure and be sensitive to concerns and confidentiality of the patient
Ability to work with patients of all ages and backgrounds with professionalism and care
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
