Job Description

The OAPS Field-Based Training Supervisor is responsible for implementing and managing field-based competency-focused training for new OAPS workers. This role ensures that trainees develop the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality protective services to older adults.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train new OAPS staff in field-based competencies
  • Evaluate trainee performance in core areas including case initiation, face-to-face contact, interviewing, investigation, service planning, documentation, evidence analysis, and time management
  • Ensure only competent trainees advance through the training program; dismiss those who do not meet standards
  • Collaborate with unit Supervisors to transition trainees into permanent roles
  • Promote cultural competency and respectful engagement across diverse populations
  • Use standardized tools and assessments to evaluate trainee progress
  • Coordinate with OAPS Mentors to support peer learning and case access
  • Partner with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging training staff to ensure completion of PDA-required training
  • Manage multiple training timelines and schedules simultaneously
  • Contribute to training development, testing, and evaluation
  • Prepare reports and analysis on training activities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support service delivery
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Professional Characteristics

  • Knowledge of program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Familiarity with OAPS policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare clear reports
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff
