Job Summary

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

NATURE OF WORK

Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty by providing food and nutrition services to individuals and families through public health programs; performs related work as required or assigned.

Nature of Work

(Illustrative Only) Determines program eligibility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and procedures; explains program procedures, regulations, processes and timeframes to applicants and representatives; conducts interviews and accurately documents information on residency, income, identification and family situation in a computerized participant database; obtains, evaluates and documents measurements of stature, weight, hemoglobin; conducts nutrition and breastfeeding assessments; provides participant centered education to participants individually or in groups according to age, category, health risks and family needs; assigns appropriate food package for eligible participants based on age, category, health risks and family needs; evaluates family needs for health care, financial and social assistance in order to make and document appropriate referrals; promotes breastfeeding and breastfeeding support activities; plans and participates in community outreach activities; works as assigned on a rotation basis in permanent and satellite WIC Clinics within Yuma County WIC's geographic area; performs Certification Specialist duties and other duties as required or assigned; maintains high standards of confidentiality; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; one (1) year of experience in nutrition or health related field; OR an equivalent combination of experience education, and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position; requires successful completion of a background check.

Special Requirements: Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; WIC program requirements including the WIC nutrition and breastfeeding assessment process and acceptable anthropometric measurement practices; human nutrition, normal nutrition issues for pregnancy, lactation, the postpartum period, infancy, and early childhood; public health nutrition programs, principles and services; principles of participant centered education and critical thinking; behavioral change theories; available health and human services/resources within the community; basic arithmetic to accurately perform computations.

Skill in: Computers and use of designated software to conduct virtual services; maintaining records, charts and preparing reports; establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with employees, other agencies, and the public; conducting video conferencing services as needed; following written and verbal instruction; eliciting information through motivational interviewing; communicating clearly and concisely to individuals and/or groups, both orally and in writing; analyzing participant information in order to determine nutrition education needs and formulate care plan; facilitating nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and classes.

Ability to: Effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritizes, manages and responds to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; read, write, research, synthesizes data and detailed reports; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively verbally and written; ability to lift up to 5 - 25 lbs; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under extreme likelihood of verbal abuse from hostile and frustrated customers.

Medical Coverage Category

The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employees needs, dependents or families.

Plan Option 1: Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) or PPO A 1100 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,500 deductible. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) with a 1700 deductible. Employees who participate in the " Wellness Incentive" will receive a $30 monthly premium reduction by completing three steps.

Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to employees Health Savings Account. If employees select Employee only and participate in the " Wellness Incentive" employees can receive up to 360.00 contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card to be used for medical or dental purposes.

Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan A and PPO Plan B. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
