UNM Medical Group is seeking a full-time Nursing Supervisor to join our School Based Health Clinics. This is a full-time opportunity located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Minimum $85,781 - Midpoint $109,305*
- Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
- Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Summary:
Using the nursing process and working under general direction within UNMMG clinic policies, supports providers as required, and supervises nurses and medical assistants in the provision of care to assigned patients. Designates shift and schedule assignments, ensuring adequate staff to meet clinic needs. Supervises staff and patient care delivery within UNMMG policies and procedures and serves as a clinical resource and role model for staff.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Nursing Supervisor:
Associate degree in nursing with 2 years nursing experience. Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico. Completed degree from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Nursing Supervisor:
- Using independent judgment, assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients and providers; designates shift and schedule assignments; assign duties in accordance with the plan of care, patient needs, and within the scope of staff qualifications and licensure/certification/registry.
- Performs supervisory functions including selection, termination, training, performance appraisal, disciplinary counseling and actions, scheduling, and work assignments; supports staff participation in organizational initiatives. Delegate and monitor completion of duties.
- Acts as a liaison, as necessary, between physicians, staff, patients, families, and other resources to promote and facilitate communication, problem solving, decision-making, crisis intervention, resource utilization, and conflict management.
- Works in collaboration with the healthcare team, implementing and documenting individualized plans of care incorporating age specific considerations and patient/family teaching using a patient centered team approach.
- May assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained; assists with or institute emergency measures and administers medication including IV medications as required.
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols - maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with UNMMG clinic standards.
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk; report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.
- Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information.
- Participates in achieving and maintaining AAAHC accreditation and meeting regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the clinics clinical model(s) such as Patient Centered Medical Home, etc.
- Review patient information/reports in collaboration with the healthcare team. Facilitate and/or participate in patient care conferences, if applicable.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

The School-Based Health Center Program provides services in 7 Albuquerque Public Schools.
The UNM School-Based Health Center (SBHC) program is co-sponsored by the UNM Medical Group and UNM Health Sciences Center. SBHC facilitates and supports schools, families and communities in addressing the social, physical and emotional needs of students so they can reach their full potential.
SBHC connects students to a larger health care system that can serve as a medical home, offering lifelong health care. SBHC providers focus on preventive health care and educating students on healthy lifestyle choices. Our goal is to enhance healthy youth development and reduce barriers to learning.
