Nursing Supervisor Opportunity$3,750 Sign On Bonus!The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nurses to plan, organize, develop, and direct the operation of the facility in accordance with current applicable Federal, State and Local standards, guidelines and Birchaven Village policies and procedures. The nursing supervisor will act as a liaison between associates and participate in employee, resident, and family teaching. This person will provide leadership by maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in a clinical setting.Job duties/responsibilities include:Identifying and assisting the LPN/RN in monitoring critical residents and assisting in notifying families, physicians, clergy, and hospitals.Assisting with admissions, transfers, and discharges including completion of paperwork.Providing follow-up, including disciplinary interventions, regarding performance concerns and/or clinical issues with Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing.Monitoring LPN and RN staffing levels and efficiency to ensure that quality care is maintained. This includes monitoring absenteeism and the development of work assignments.Assisting in the evaluation of nursing staff performance. Completing evaluations for staff on designated shift in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Nursing.Investigating incidents occurring on designated shift and following proper incident reporting protocol.Completing census reports and reviewing twenty-four hour nursing communication sheet for accuracy and completeness and providing reports to oncoming Assistant Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing as needed.Starting IV's, obtaining sputum, urine and other specimens for lab tests as ordered. Monitoring and preparing requisitions for laboratory and radiology reviews.Ensuring that all LPN/RN's comply with written procedures for the administration, storage, and control of medications and supplies.Ensuring that nursing service personnel follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.Reviewing complaints made by residents, allegations of resident abuse and misappropriation of resident property, and giving report to the DON indicating what actions were taken to resolve the issue. Following facility's established procedures.Displaying service excellence and the standards of behavior as evidenced by practicing the mission, vision, and values of the organization to promote resident satisfaction.Complying with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and regulatory compliance.Required qualifications include:Currently licensed in the State of Ohio to practice nursing as a RN.Leadership ability and the ability to express and demonstrate teachings and ideas to all socio-economical associates and residents.Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department.Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status.Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.Preferred qualifications include:Minimum of one to three years of clinical experience, long-term care preferred.Physical demands include:This position requires a full range of body motions with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
