Position Title: Nursing Faculty Department Nursing Appointment Type: Annually Renewable FLSA Non-Exempt Position FTE

Job Summary:

Provide innovative, student-centered nursing instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online environments. Support the development of clinical reasoning, professional communication, and safe nursing practice through evidence-based teaching, evaluation, and mentorship. Actively contribute to curriculum development, accreditation, student success initiatives, and collaborative partnerships within the college and healthcare community.

Essential Duties:

  • Plans, develops, and teaches nursing courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course outcomes in classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and online learning environments.

  • Facilitates student learning and success through evidence-based teaching practices that support the development of clinical judgment, professional communication, technical skills, and safe nursing practice.

  • Provides clinical instruction and supervision in accordance with Oregon State Board of Nursing, accreditation, college, and clinical agency requirements.

  • Communicates course and clinical objectives to students and clinical partners; collaborates with clinical staff and preceptors to support student learning and achievement of course outcomes.

  • Evaluates student performance using a variety of assessment methods and provides timely feedback regarding academic, laboratory, simulation, and clinical progress.

  • Advises and supports students with the goal of promoting retention, progression, completion, and preparation for licensure and professional practice.

  • Participates in curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation activities, student success initiatives, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

  • Develops and maintains effective instructional practices in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments utilizing appropriate instructional technologies and learning management systems.

  • Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential student, clinical, and program documentation in accordance with college, clinical agency, accreditation, FERPA, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, advisory committees, and community healthcare partners to support program quality and responsiveness to workforce and community needs.

  • Participates in department, division, college, and community activities; serves on committees and engages in shared governance as assigned.

  • Maintains current nursing knowledge, licensure, certifications, and professional competence through ongoing professional development and clinical practice, as appropriate.

  • Performs duties in accordance with college policies, collective bargaining agreements, work plans, and position descriptions.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires the ability to work with staff and students.

Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.

Education and Experience

Must hold a current, unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse license and be academically and experientially qualified for assigned teaching responsibilities in accordance with Oregon State Board of Nursing requirements. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of nursing experience. May consider applicants with a bachelor's degree in nursing who are enrolled and actively progressing in a master's degree in nursing program.

Special Notes to Applicants:

Starting faculty salary range for 2026-27 academic year is $96,430 for a 1.0 FTE, 168-day, academic year contract. *New faculty will be contracted for 168-day contract (9 month academic year contract) plus an additional 3 days to attend Instructional Strategies Institute training the first year.

  • This position is subject to Article 31 of the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. In the event of a reduction in force, this position may be afforded less protection than non-Article 31 faculty.   • The successful candidate will be required to submit official transcripts within 30 days of their hire date.
  • As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
  • Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences.
  • Employment is subject to completion of a post-offer criminal background check.
