Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Behavioral Health to lead a large inpatient behavioral health unit within a well-established acute care hospital. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring clinical excellence, and delivering high-quality patient care across behavioral health services for diverse patient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Job Summary:
The Nursing Director of Behavioral Health provides strategic and operational leadership for the department. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care services while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards. The Director will focus on quality improvement, staff development, patient satisfaction, and efficient resource management.
Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee daily operations of the behavioral health department
Develop and implement departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives
Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
Manage staffing, performance evaluations, and team development
Monitor and improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes
Oversee departmental budgeting, productivity, and cost control
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and multidisciplinary teams
Serve as a liaison between staff, leadership, and stakeholders
Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)
Master’s Degree (required within 6 months of hire)
BLS Certification required
Minimum 5+ years of Behavioral Health leadership experience
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
