Nursing Director, Acute Care & Hospital Operations

South Tucson, Arizona | Full-time hospital leadership role | Relocation may be available

Some nursing leadership roles are about maintaining the status quo. This one is about helping set the tone for how care is delivered, how teams are supported, and how hospital operations move forward.

This is a visible nursing leadership opportunity for someone who can lead through complexity, partner closely with senior nursing leadership, and help guide inpatient teams through the daily realities of staffing, quality, patient care, communication, and accountability. The right leader will bring both clinical credibility and operational discipline.

What you'll do?

  • Lead nursing operations across assigned inpatient areas, with responsibility for patient care quality, staffing, team performance, and day-to-day execution
  • Partner closely with senior nursing leadership to assess needs, strengthen nursing practice, and turn hospital priorities into clear action
  • Support managers, charge nurses, and frontline teams by creating structure, improving communication, and reinforcing consistent expectations
  • Help ensure safe, high-quality care through strong clinical standards, resource management, staff competency, and visible leadership
  • Serve as a role model and advocate for professional nursing practice while building trust with staff, peers, physicians, and executive leaders

Why you should consider this role?

  • This is a true hospital leadership seat with direct visibility to senior nursing leadership and meaningful influence across assigned units
  • You'll have the opportunity to make an impact beyond one shift or one team by helping shape quality, culture, staffing practices, and nursing operations
  • The organization is looking for a leader who can bring structure without losing heart, and accountability without creating fear
  • Tucson offers a strong healthcare market, a more approachable cost of living than many larger metros, and a lifestyle built around sunshine, space, and community
  • Full benefits are offered, and relocation support may be available for the right candidate

Who can be successful in this role?

  • A licensed RN with at least two years of progressive hospital leadership experience as a manager, director, or full-time charge nurse
  • Someone with the confidence to lead inpatient teams in a fast-moving hospital environment where priorities can change quickly
  • A leader who communicates clearly, stays steady under pressure, and knows how to balance staff support with operational accountability
  • Someone who understands quality, safety, staffing, patient experience, and resource management as connected parts of the same leadership responsibility
  • A nursing leader with a BSN or healthcare-related bachelor's degree; a master's degree is a plus, but leadership presence and hospital credibility are the real difference-makers here
