Job Description

A vacancy exists in the Bureau of Clinical Services/Center Based Services, Department of Health and Human Services. A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below. Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants. List of Essential Duties

  • Assists clinicians in the direct care of patients and in conducting physical examinations either in health centers or in the home
  • Monitors, documents, and reports on the condition of patients
  • Takes and records pre-examination information from patients including vital signs, height and weight measurements, and medical histories
  • Collects, prepares, and tests various laboratory specimens
  • Performs venipuncture, hearing and vision screening, and associated clinical procedures
  • Prepares, sets up, and closes out examination rooms
  • Sets up, maintains, cleans, and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment
  • Maintains and distributes inventories of medical and office supplies
  • Assists in the preparation of maintenance of medical records, files, and reports

Qualifications

  • Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent
  • At least two years experience, under supervision, rendering direct medical patient care
  • (Additional qualifying education in nursing or a related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience)
  • Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Maryland Board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment
  • Possession of a valid drivers license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland drivers license is required at the time of appointment

Licenses and Certificates

  • Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position
  • Diplomas or transcript must show the applicants major field of study
  • Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable
  • Proof of Degree Equivalency Applicants who have obtained a degree from outside the United States of America are required to submit degree equivalence documentation from World Education Services, Inc.

Examination Procedure

Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

The work of this classification may include the performance of physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting, the operation of medical equipment and instruments, and travel throughout the County. Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards. Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
