Position Specific Details Take PN and ADN students to clinical. Must have all of the required vaccines and clearance required by the facility. Incumbent must have 4 years of Maternity experience. Incumbent must have a minimum BSN.

Summary Statement An incumbent is responsible for developing and improving curricula, instructing assigned courses consistent with syllabi, evaluating student learning, and fostering student success.

Nature and Scope An incumbent in this class typically reports to the Dean of Instruction through an Instructional Director, Department Chairperson, or Program Coordinator. An incumbent is expected to plan, organize, and instruct in a manner to promote and direct successful student learning in keeping with the Colleges values and goals.

Principal Accountabilities An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities as determined by the supervisor.

• Plans, organizes, and instructs courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor utilizing effective and engaging instructional strategies, the learning management system (LMS), appropriate communication, classroom management, leadership skills, and instructionaleducational technology to promote student success. • Normal teaching contact hours per week are 18 unless otherwise modified by the Department Chairperson/Dean. • Demonstrates best practices in instruction and classroom management that respond to students diverse academic needs. • Uses instructional technology, including multimedia, to meet students learning needs and achieve the objectives of the academic program. • Assists or leads in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/Dean. • Evaluates and revises existing curriculum and courses as part of the annual course evaluation process and/or as assigned. • Contributes to program review. • Participates in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA). • Serves as an advisor for students utilizing effective advisement strategies, the Student Educational Plan, and other advisement tools to promote student retention and progression. • Assists students toward the successful completion of courses which the instructor is teaching by providing outreach guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved forms of academic support. • Makes oneself accessible and available to assist students. • Provides a minimum of six (6) posted office hours per week to students. • Maintains adequate and timely student records, e.g., grades are posted in the LMS in a timely fashion. • Evaluates and reports students progress and attendance in a timely manner. • Works as a team member with other faculty and staff to facilitate College and academic program operations and achieve goals and objectives. • Provides guidance to new and adjunct faculty as assigned. • Assists in attaining and maintaining program accreditation. • Completes the New Faculty Development Program (NFDP) during the one-year probationary period to ensure understanding of the Colleges mission and preparation to instruct students with various learning styles and academic needs. • Completes the Instructional Design Technology Certificate or can demonstrate mastery of its competencies. • Continues professional development, growth, and a commitment to continuous improvement as an instructor. • Remains current within his/her academic field/discipline. • Participates in departmental, campus, College meetings, and serves on campus or collegewide committees. • Participates in advisory committee meetings and other college and student-related activities. • Advises student clubs and organizations as assigned. • Participates in developing and implementing college policies, objectives, and/or functions in accordance with the philosophy of the College. • Assists in providing support for operations, events, processes to enhance recruitment, enrollment, registration, advisement, transfer, and graduate employment as assigned. • Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing as requested. • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of computers and electronic instructional methodology. Knowledge and understanding of competency-based learning. Ability to develop and use teaching strategies that will promote successful learning by addressing different learning styles and strategies. Ability to use assessment to enhance learning. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a Bachelors degree in Nursing. Masters degree in Nursing preferred. Four (4) years or relevant work experience in nursing that includes primary focus in adult medical surgical. Possession of or eligibility for a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Delaware or compact state at time of application and during employment in this position. Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter in areas of nursing teaching methods, clinical skills, and nursing protocol. Ability to communicate subject matter to a diverse population. Ability to function in a clinical setting without limitation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR THE POSITION OF REGISTERED NURSE REQUIRED IN THE ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM

I. Principal Accountability Performance Requirements

• Ability to use senses: Visual acuity with corrective lenses to identify color changes in skin, respiratory movements in clients, read fine print, writing on physicians orders, monitors equipment calibrations, measure medications in syringes, IVs, etc. • Hearing ability with auditory aides to hear monitor alarms, emergency signals, call bells, telephone orders, and understand a normal speaking voice without viewing the speakers face. • Motor Ability: Physical ability to walk long distances, stand for prolonged periods, lift, move, and transfer patients, equipment of 50 lbs. or more, to maneuver in limited space, perform CPR, provide routine and emergency patient care, have manual dexterity and feeling ability of hands to insert tubes, prepare medications, and perform technical skills. • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form through interaction with clients, family, and healthcare members to write clearly and correctly on clients records for legal documentation. • Ability to Problem-Solve: Intellectual and conceptual ability for measuring, calculating, reasoning, analyzing, prioritizing, and synthesizing data. • Ability to Maintain Emotional Stability: Ability to function safely under stress and adapt to changing clinical and client situations.
